Leadership at Spring Creek

At Spring Creek Christian Church, we follow the New Testament pattern of church leadership. Our leadership team consists of Elders who spiritually shepherd the body and Deacons who faithfully handle the day-to-day functions and administration of the church.

Our Elders

"If any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do." — 1 Timothy 3:1

Scripturally, an elder (or overseer) is called to shepherd, teach, and oversee the spiritual health of the local church body. According to 1 Timothy 3:1-7, our elders are held to strict biblical qualifications, ensuring they are men who are above reproach, self-controlled, gentle, capable teachers, and respected both inside and outside the church.

  • Pastor Jeffery Hayes

My Testimony: I accepted Christ as my Savior in 2004. Before that, I had spent almost 30 years trying to create an identity for myself in the world, lusting for fame and trying nearly everything to get it. It was not until I was falsely labeled a union spy at the hospital where I worked, denying me any chance of full-time employment, that I finally humbled myself. I told God, "I can't run my own life. I'll do things your way from now on." In my pain and confusion, I closed my eyes and prayed. Suddenly, Psalm 46:10 came to mind: "Be still and know that I am God." I knew then that all I ever needed to define who I was was a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Months later, after losing another job that had been all but guaranteed to me, I helplessly prayed for direction, and the calling to be a pastor came to me. I attended seminary to prepare, graduated from Moody Theological Seminary in 2014, and officially became a pastor on January 22, 2012.

Family: My wife, Danielle, and I married in 2006. We have 10 children: Hadassah, Moriah, Elijah, Micaiah, Hannah, Jeremiah, Zephaniah, Havilah, Nehemiah, and Shiphrah.

Favorites & Hobbies: My favorite Bible verse is Matthew 4:4 (Danielle's is 1 Thessalonians 5:24). My hobbies include reading, exercising, and writing.

  • Daniel Baker

My Testimony: I came to know Christ in September 2015. I knew I needed something in life to change; I was on a bad path dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress from my time in the Army. I attended the Great Banquet, and I gave my life to Christ that weekend.
My family and I started coming to Spring Creek in November 2012 and became members in November 2013. After recognizing my desire to lead, I attended training to become a deacon in 2017. I continued training, serving, and preaching the Word of God when Pastor Jeff needed, which eventually led me to train as an elder. In March 2023, I officially took on the role of elder.

Church Ministry: In addition to my role as an elder, I serve in audio and visuals for the service, teach the Pre-K through Kindergarten class, lead a small group, and handle maintenance around the church building.

Family: My wife, Andrea, and I married in 2008. We have 3 children: Ethan, Cohen, and Dylan.

Favorites & Hobbies: My favorite chapter in the Bible is Colossians 3. When I was first saved, I had a lot of things in my life to change, and this chapter stuck out to me and helped me in my walk. In my spare time, I enjoy archery, hunting, fishing, cooking over a fire, and grilling or smoking meats.

Our Deacons

"For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a high standing..." — 1 Timothy 3:13

First established in Acts 6 to assist church leadership, the word deacon literally translates to "servant." At Spring Creek, our deacons support the elders by managing the daily logistics, building maintenance, and administrative functions of the church. Scriptural qualifications from 1 Timothy 3 require our deacons to be men of integrity, clear biblical understanding, and a servant’s heart.

  • Ray Bean

My Testimony: I was introduced to church and Jesus through friends in 1979. As I matured in the Word, I gained a deep personal relationship with Christ and became faithful to Him. I have attended Spring Creek and been a member since 1979. Driven by a desire to serve the Lord and meet the needs in the body, I have been privileged to serve in church leadership here for 15 years. Alongside my role as a deacon, I serve as a small group leader, run the visuals during the service, and help prepare and serve communion. My prayer is to see Spring Creek grow in maturity more than in numbers. I would love to see teachers preparing others to teach, bringing more people to Christ.

Family: I have been married to my wife, Christina, for 44 years. We have 3 children—Travis, Randi, and Jessie—and one son who has passed, Ray Eddie.

Favorites & Hobbies: One of my favorite verses in the Bible is John 15:16: "You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit..." It reminds me that God loves us and has chosen us to do His will. My interests include fishing and spending time with my 9 grandchildren.
